Children’s Right to Participation:
Under this right, the children have the right to participate in discussions about various issues concerned with their lives; they have the freedom to express their opinions. So, they should also know what is happening in the world. They have the right to form their own groups and clubs. Their voices and opinions must be heard, respected and recognized. Therefore, with technical support from Slisha, the children from the orphanage home and the children from the community in Kapan jointly formed the Slisha Child Club and registered it with the District Child Welfare Committee in September 2007.
- To promote child participation on the UN Convention on the Rights of the Child (CRC)
- To encourage children to participate in various activities such as painting, music class, playing games
- To develop children’s leadership qualities and overall development
The children of the club hold monthly meetings where they prepare their activities. Children from both the community and the home are working together. They organize quiz contests, singing and dancing competitions, role plays on CRC and painting exhibitions.
