Child Get-Together: A Day of Joy, Learning, and Inspiration

April 16, 2025

Under the theme “Rights Together with Responsibilities: Identity of Good Children,” a vibrant and heartwarming Child Get-Together was conducted on the 10th of April 2025 at Bhotewodar. The atmosphere was filled with joy, laughter, and anticipation as 230 children from Tanahun and Lamjung came together to share, learn, and celebrate.

The program began with the entire team singing the national anthem. After that, the program was inaugurated in a very symbolic and emotional way—by the youngest boy and girl participants lighting the traditional lamp. This moment reflected the essence of the day: empowering every child, giving them space, and honoring their presence.

Unlike usual formal events, this program was conducted in a relaxed, informal style, allowing children to feel comfortable, open, and free to express themselves. Pabitra Pariyar warmly welcomed everyone and shared the objectives of the gathering: to learn from each other’s experiences, to build confidence, and to express themselves through activities like drama, song, dance, and a quiz contest.

Heartfelt Sharing by Child Groups

The program began with children from various groups sharing their personal journeys and group experiences. Their words were honest, powerful, and inspiring. Many spoke about how being part of child groups and attending the IBT (Issue Based Training) sessions brought real changes in their daily lives.

They proudly shared how they have reduced mobile phone usage, started eating vegetables and avoiding junk food, and how they have begun asking questions when something doesn’t feel right or is unclear to them. Listening to their stories filled everyone’s hearts with pride and joy. It was evident that these children were not only understanding their rights and responsibilities, but also applying them in their lives.

Quiz Contest: A Friendly Battle of Knowledge

A lively quiz contest followed, with questions based on the IBT sessions. Each of the eight child groups selected three members to represent them. The quiz had five competitive and engaging rounds. Group 8 took an early lead, but in a dramatic and exciting turnaround, Group 3 clinched the first position by the final round. Group 5 came in second, and Group 8 secured the third place.

A three-member judge committee was formed to ensure fair evaluation, and clear judging parameters were developed beforehand. The level of excitement, healthy competition, and the amount of knowledge displayed by the children reflected just how impactful the IBT classes have been.

Dramas That Touched Hearts

Three powerful dramas were performed by the children, each one portraying deep and pressing issues that affect many of them in real life.

  • One drama depicted the story of a mother working abroad, a father who remarried, and children left emotionally lost despite receiving gifts like a mobile phone.
  • Another showed the painful consequences of having a father who drinks excessively and how it affects a child’s mental and emotional well-being.
  • The third drama illustrated the chaos children face when parents constantly fight, leaving them neglected and unable to focus on their studies.

Each performance left the audience deeply moved, with many silently wiping away tears. These dramas were not just acts—they were reflections of reality, raising awareness and encouraging empathy.

Expressions Through Music and Dance

Music and dance added color and joy to the day. Five beautiful songs were performed by talented children, and five dance performances followed, showcasing the children’s creativity and confidence. Some children even played musical instruments themselves, adding a personal and touching layer to the performances.

A Celebration of Unity and Teamwork

The program ran from 10 a.m. to 5:30 p.m., and throughout the day, smiles, laughter, and claps filled the air. After the event, the WAWCAS team conducted a review session, and all team members unanimously agreed—it was an incredibly effective, inspiring, and memorable day.

This event once again demonstrated the power of unity and teamwork. When everyone works together with a shared purpose and heart, everything becomes possible. The children left empowered, energized, and inspired. Together, we are raising a generation that knows their rights, understands their responsibilities, and dares to dream.

Together, we celebrated childhood. Together, we nurtured change.
