As planned, a vibrant Child Get-Together Program was successfully conducted on 2nd May, bringing together more than 200 children from child groups across Kathmandu and Lalitpur districts. The event created a lively and inspiring space for children to express themselves, reflect on their journeys, and strengthen their commitment to positive change.
The program was inaugurated in a meaningful way by one of the youngest boy and girl from the child groups, symbolizing inclusion and empowerment from an early age. The welcome session was delivered by Sarika, who also highlighted the objectives of the program—fostering confidence, encouraging dialogue, and promoting leadership among children.
The event began with an energetic and empowering chant:
Facilitator: “Who owns your future?”
Children: “I DO!”
Facilitator: “What do we break?”
Children: “BARRIERS!”
Facilitator: “What do we build?”
Girls: “OUR FUTURE!”
This powerful opening set the tone for the rest of the program.
Children were then divided into small groups, where they engaged in interactive discussions. They identified key challenges they face at home, in school, and within their communities. They also reflected on the positive changes they have experienced after joining the child groups, highlighting growth in confidence, communication, and awareness.
A separate group session was conducted with boys, focusing on promoting respectful behavior towards women and girls. The boys discussed and presented practical actions they can take to become responsible and respectful individuals.
The group work was followed by presentations, where children creatively shared their insights through drama, songs, and dance performances. These presentations reflected both the challenges they face and their hopes for a better future.
The program concluded with an oath-taking ceremony, where each child committed to taking at least one immediate positive action in their daily lives. This moment reinforced their dedication to personal growth and social change.
Overall, the event was a powerful platform for children to learn, share, and inspire one another—demonstrating that when children are given the opportunity, they can become strong voices for change in their communities.
