SLISHA conducted a Gender Workshop with husbands of WAWCAS women group in Lamjung. 31 participated in the training. The workshop was targeted to bring about the changes in the roles of gender in the society. We have been brought up in the society where roles and responsibilities have been pre-allocated based on the gender which is the root cause for all the disparities. This mind set needs to be changed to bring in equality, prosperity and well-being.
In the workshop, primary focus was to make the “males” internalize equal participation in every work. Males are not only responsible for the productive work (earning) but should also equally participate in reproductive work (household chores). The purpose of the training could be seen met as even in the training the participants took the responsibility of cleaning the space and the utensils. The participants went from the training with a commitment for the change.
